Hope is something the world desperately needs. It’s easy to look around and see pain, confusion, and uncertainty. People are searching for meaning, longing for peace, and grasping at anything that promises fulfillment. But as believers, we already know the source of true, lasting hope—Jesus Christ. The question is, are we being intentional about sharing this truth?

I recently watched a video that really made me think. An atheist was speaking about how many Christians don’t share their faith. It didn’t make sense to him because, if he truly believed in something, he would go out of his way to convince everyone around him of how good it was. He gave an example that stuck with me. He said if someone was standing in the middle of the road and a car was rushing toward them, people wouldn’t just stand by and watch. Even if that person refused to believe there was a car coming, even if they accused others of lying, the onlookers wouldn’t just shake their heads and walk away. Someone would run forward and pull them out of harm’s way.

That example made me stop and think about how we, as believers, approach sharing our faith. We see the state of the world. We see people struggling, unaware of the danger ahead. And yet, we often share our faith only within our Christian circles—where everyone already knows about the approaching car. Maybe it’s fear of rejection, maybe it’s hesitation, maybe we’ve just become too comfortable. But Jesus commanded us to go into all the world and preach the good news (Mark 16:15). That means stepping outside of what’s familiar and choosing, daily, to be intentional about spreading hope.

Hope is Contagious—But We Must First Choose to Share It

Hope is not something to keep to ourselves. It’s meant to be shared, to be given freely, to be spread like wildfire. But how do we do that in our everyday lives? How do we become intentional about spreading hope? Here are a few simple but powerful steps.

1. Speak Life

Words have power. Every interaction we have is an opportunity to either lift someone up or tear them down. What if we chose to speak life into every situation? Encouraging words, affirmations, and truth spoken in love can change someone’s day—or even their entire life. Take a moment to send a kind text, compliment someone sincerely, or remind a friend that God is working in their life even when they don’t see it. A simple “You are loved” or “I’m praying for you” can go a long way.

2. Show Kindness Intentionally

Kindness isn’t just about being polite; it’s about actively looking for ways to bless others. Buy a stranger a coffee. Leave a note of encouragement for a coworker. Offer to pray for someone who is struggling. The world can be cold, but small acts of kindness remind people that they are seen and valued.

3. Be Present in People’s Lives

Sometimes, spreading hope is as simple as showing up. Be there for your friends and family. Listen when someone needs to talk. Offer a shoulder to cry on. In a world where people feel more isolated than ever, being present can make a huge difference. Let’s not be so busy that we miss the opportunities to love those around us well.

4. Live with Integrity and Joy

People notice when someone carries joy in their heart despite life’s challenges. Our faith should be evident not just in what we say but in how we live. Choosing to be joyful, even in difficult circumstances, can be a testimony to the hope we have in Christ. When others see that our peace isn’t dependent on our situation but on Jesus, they will want to know more.

5. Step Out in Faith and Share the Gospel

At some point, we have to move beyond kindness and encouragement and share the actual message of the gospel. This doesn’t mean being pushy or forcing conversations. It means being open to the Holy Spirit’s leading, being unafraid to bring up faith in everyday discussions, and taking opportunities to share what Jesus has done in our lives.

Many people are lost, skeptical, and constantly searching for answers. They need to hear that real hope exists, and we are the ones called to tell them. The peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) is not something we should keep to ourselves—it’s meant to be shared with the world.

6. Pray for Divine Appointments

God is always at work, and He often places people in our path who need to hear the hope we carry. If we ask Him for divine appointments—specific opportunities to encourage and share the gospel—He will provide them. Start each day with a simple prayer: Lord, show me who needs Your hope today. Give me the courage and wisdom to share it.

7. Don’t Give Up

Sharing hope can feel discouraging at times, especially when we face rejection. But we can’t allow fear or fatigue to keep us from doing what we’re called to do. Jesus Himself faced rejection, but that didn’t stop Him from loving people. Over and over, we must share hope. Even when we don’t see immediate results, seeds are being planted. God is the one who brings the growth (1 Corinthians 3:6).

We Were Made for This

We live in a world that needs hope more than ever. People are hurting, searching, and longing for something real. And we have the answer. We have been called for such a time as this (Esther 4:14). It’s no accident that we are here in this generation, in this moment, with the people around us.

Spreading hope isn’t just about big, grand gestures. It’s about small, intentional steps every single day. Choosing to be kind. Choosing to speak life. Choosing to show up. Choosing to share our faith. Choosing to love, even when it’s hard.

So let’s be bold. Let’s be intentional. Let’s go out of our way to bring hope to a world that desperately needs it. Because when we take those intentional steps, we reflect the love of Christ—and that is the greatest hope of all.
